I have a Lane cedar chest that I want to sell. The serial number is 250250. It's in poor condition, but probably great for restoration.

This chest was made May 20, 1952. You read the serial number backwards to get the date.
Chests in good condition are asking in the $225 range on eBay, so price accordingly.
First, I believe your chest falls into the Lane recall, and would need a new lock. This is the link to that information:

Sadly Lane Chests and just about all "brown furniture has lost favor with today's buyers and most of the chests sell for well under $150 when pristine.
In the condition you describe, they sell for $25 and under, if they sell.
Earlier this year, a friend was breaking up family member's estate and she had one that was in excellent condition and much more ornate than the one you have. It was a cherished family piece and she could not get it sold at any price and had to donate it. Sadly she did not have a lot of time to wait for just the right buyer to come along...which is what happens with these lovely pieces.
If you are selling, you can always call it a "handy-person special" or "flea market flip style dream piece" and start at $50 and take best offer.
Maybe where you are there is a much higher demand than where I am located in Pittsburgh.
Post back with an update!!
Starting at $85 on ebay!
