While I cannot give you the exact date, Mersman tables were made in the middle of the 20th century. This table is in great condition. I would ask $250-$275 for it.

You will find many listings for this style table because Mersman produced a sizable number when they were in business. It is probably still one of the most popular style tables and has held its value more than most of the Mersman pieces.
- When reviewing listings you will find a number of dates mentioned but most of the sellers are probably going by what they have seen others who state one date or another.
- There is currently no list available that has item numbers with dates they were made and there is no one to contact for more information. Most tables were made in mid-century and that is about as close as you will probably get.
- There may be a seller somewhere that has true provenance - maybe a receipt of purchase or a family member who remembers when a piece was purchased but that will be rare and even appraisers will state the "mid-century" (possibly 40-50s) because the company possibly had very poor record keeping when it came to dates and numbers.
- As an example: This seller has "circa 1920" but in their listing they state age as 1900-1950.

- The Duncan Phyfe that you mention is only being used as a "style" and is used with a lot of other furniture. Although I did see one listing that was clearly Mersman but they had it showing only Duncan Phyfe.
- Most of the listings you see with Duncan Phyfe in the top line is being used to catch more "lookers" than just Mersman alone. If you look at most of those listings in the description area you will only find Mersman and no mention of Duncan Phyfe.
- These are popular tables but there is no shortage of them on the Internet and they are listed with asking prices from $40 to $1000. Asking prices have no reflection on true value - only sold prices can give you any indication of the current value.
- Here are current listings on eBay and other sites:
- Here is a link to tables that were sold in the past few months (eBay):
- True value? Some tables are selling for over $200 but there is no way to tell how long they were listed before they sold and no way to tell what area they were listed in without checking many listings. Some areas like this type of furniture and others totally ignore it.
- If you wish to sell your table, I would suggest listing it on a local site such as Craigslist, USA4Sale so there would be no shipping involved and people could actually see the table before buying.
- This way you can list it at a high price and lower the price if no one shows an interest.

Mersman tables are interesting because they went through many different iterations and even owners and so each table is from a different era and therefore price range. The best way to tell is the sticker marking IE if it's the green yellow sticker it's really old

There are a number of them that have sold on eBay recently.
You will need to do two things:
1. See if you can find one in your area and that will be the value for your town.
2 If none are for your town, average the prices together and that will be today's value generally.
Selling these lovely pieces is all about supply and demand, so if you are in a place where there is high demand and low supply, you can fetch more. Low demand and high supply, lower value.
Post back what you get for yours! This is a lovely, sturdy piece that will serve someone well for years to come!!
