I would start my asking price at $350. This is an unusual and beautiful piece. It is also in good condition.

Looks like someone is offering your exact piece (they call it a buffet server) for $149:

You may want to watch this one and if it sells that is today's current market value.

These are beautiful pieces and yours is in nice shape.

I can't find examples of any active OR sold on eBay in any of my other favorite haunts. That is good news, which means the supply is low. If the demand is high, you may be able to fetch more in your town!

You could ask a dealer in your town about the supply and demand in your town. Perhaps you can even find a good place to consign it for you so you can get your space back and leave the selling to someone else.

Post back what you decide and if you sell, how much you earn! Lovely piece! Thanks for sharing!!

When doing your research you will have to look for a name other than apothecary table or you will most likely never find it. An apothecary table usually has several small drawers and not long drawers such as your cabinet has.

  • The style table has been called by many names so I'm not sure there really is a "correct" name anymore.
  • I see them listed as: radio cabinet/table, console, lamp table, parlor table, sofa table, hall table, small buffet, maybe even a men's dressing table.
  • As a small buffet they would have had table linens/napkins in the long drawers and probably accessible in or near the dining room.
  • I have seen Mersman ads with similar table/cabinets and they were called by similar names.
  • You will probably not find an exact match that has been sold but even if you did the condition may not be similar or the location different so value would not be the same.
  • Judy may be about right on the approximate value but furniture pieces are usually slow sellers.
  • Listing it locally would probably be best so you do not have to think about shipping.

  • If you want to go to a little trouble you could ask for a free appraisal to see what one of these sites would tell you.
