Value of a Mersman Library Table?

What a beauty!!! I love Mersman's mid century modern (MCM lines)!! They remind me of my childhood!!

On this piece...it is hard to tell from the picture, but if you look at the link I will put at the end of this message (you may have to scroll thru a couple of pictures to find the near match). I am thinking someone removed the lower 3-4 inches of the the leg. If you see the one I saw...it has that neato MCM leg with the extra piece.

Look at your piece and the one in the pix to see if you agree. You may also want turn your piece over and study the feet... a tell tale sign would be a rough, unfinished, wrong color, etc. finish.

It doesn't help with putting a $ value on the piece...but it will help you when you find a comparable to know if it is fully intact or altered. Sadly, altering a piece usually lowers the value to a true collector.

That is why I always only buy what I love....not what is "collectible" or "original" or "perfect"! It fits my lifestyle to do this...but that is just wonky old me!

We do not see Mersman Bros., Brandts CO marking very often so you have an interesting piece.

• I believe this branding/mark was on mostly tables but the history is interesting.

• Not really sure why the table is shorter but I feel sure there was a reason this style was made.
• This style of table is more rare than most Mersman tables so I believe it would be worth more money - maybe $200 or more (depending on the condition) if posted in the right area.
• By right area, I mean an area that people are interested in antique and vintage furniture and where this piece can be seen before a purchase.
• You would have to post something like this on your local Craigslist or Letgo to make the most profit as something like this is just too much to be shipped.
• I think you should ask for a free appraisal and see what you have.
• Check one of these sites.
