From what I have seen, this table is in the $100 range
mersman tables go from $100 to $250, depending on many factors. YOu can do a search for "Mersman Table 4146 inurl:craigslist.org" to see what people are selling theirs for
Interesting piece! This is a Mersman Demilune (or I have seen it demi lune or called half moon or crescent moon) table.
It looks like it may be walnut, but it is hard to tell from the photo.
I am NOT an expert, but have done a lot of research on these pieces as I really like them!
This one may be one of the older pieces...the company was around for most of the 1900s....see this history:
The older pieces tended to have more "gingerbread" like this one does.
In the 50s and 60s and even early 70s, they made more streamlined pieces (Danish style--you will see it called Mid Century Modern).
I call your piece more along the colonial lines...leaning toward Victorian, but not quite as gaudy as a typical Victorian. Maybe one of the other experts here can give you better info on this than I can...this is just my gut feeling.
So then the question is value...which is a tough one as it looks like yours has some condition issues (or maybe the photo is just not the best...sorry).
I am not seeing any exact matches to your item either on eBay or any of the other big furniture auctions sites at the moment (but the market literally changes every minute, so later than can be bunches).
Finding a sold one of your exact item will be the only way to give you a TRUE market value--of what someone in today's market actually paid. Do not do "like items" as there are some like items that are worthless and some of high value...exact matches are critical to your getting a true price/value for your item.
You can guess all over the place, but until you find eveidence of sold ones, you won't know the exact value.
So my suggestion is to try eBay every few days and Google (use the terms Mersman and Demi lune or Mersman and Crescent or Mersman and Half round and find an EXACT match to yours to see what it sells for.
You could also take it to an antique dealer and get their take...if you ask for insurance purposes they may give you more info than if you go to sell.
Mersman literally made millions of pieces so they are not rare; many are still around as they accomplished what they set out to do, which was make sturdy furniture that could last for MANY years and still be functional. Selling depends on supply and demand and what people in your area like. I would personally NOT sell these online (way to heavy to ship) so a local market, like Facebook or Next Door or a Pennysaver would be best bet and no fees (which take away from your profit...because value and profit are two different things as fees and such take away from value and leave less profit.
Hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing this lovely piece!
Yours is not the average Mersman table so I really doubt that you will find one like it or even similar.
