My wife's family has had this chair for a long time - maybe since it was purchased new. The label on the bottom says, Murphy Chair Co. No. 735 Detroit Michigan. You can see it has some damage. Any idea of it's age and it's value in this condition?

I saw one in great shape and a padded cushion a while back on eBay that sold for $200. I would ask for $125.
Any idea the age of the chair. Does the fact that it says Detroit mean that it was made before 1917 when they moved production to Ky?
Hi,
I would not take less than $200 for this chair since it is an antique and it looks beautiful. It could be displayed and enjoyed for someone who loves antiques.
Blessings,
Robyn
I can't make out the year, so if it is established 1872 then it would be this company--which changed its name in 1874. Meaning your piece would be a true antique (over 100 yrs old).
This is a nursing/slipper style which where I am can go from $50 to $300. The condition issues would put it the low end.
To get a value for where you are, you would want to talk to an antique dealer who knows your market and get their feedback since you may be in a place where these are in high demand and even the condition issues would not deter a sale.
I would have them sell it for you so you can realize a better price in for it.
