647 means it is probably #647 of a lot of dolls with more than 647. Thats a lot of the same doll and it is probably not worth much.

This doll, though possibly fitting some niche due to their 'ethnicity', are not worth much. Low demand and mass production bring their value way down. They were not meant to be toys but marketed as collectibles. People bought them because they looked to them like antique dolls and were more affordable than the 'real deal, which, due to non-automated manufacturing methods and the rarity of time, indeed are collectible and worth something. Though not as much as ppl think simply because the market interest in them is not as high as in, say, iPads.

These 'collector' dolls were made by so many companies and artists, and during their day they were heavily marketed as a 'commodity that would appraise in value', so folks bought them, put them away under the illusion that they'd appraise in value. Not only did that not happen, but it never could, because the entire economic model on which they were based was flawed. They have hit the market causing much dismay amongst the people who 'invested' in them, as they have no value in today's market, which is now flooded with them.

It is sad to see these dolls sell for even $3-$10 (new, still in box) because most were bought with high hopes that one day they could pass a valuable item down to a favorite granddaughter or even use as a "nest-egg" for themselves.

  • The companies flooded the market with all sizes, styles of dolls and they were so pretty they sold like hot-cakes - for a while.
  • That market is almost gone and you do not see very many of these dolls on the shelves anymore.
  • Most of these were sold at stores like K-Mart, Target, Toy's R Us, and Toy Biz and just like the Barbie dolls, there are so many available that no one makes any profit as they are slow sellers and usually only really rare dolls sell for over $40.
  • This style doll was a "winner" and many companies produced them by the thousands so you can find almost any size for only a few dollars.
  • But, there is still Craigslist and many times this type of doll will sell in a local area for more money than on the Internet.
  • So if you are interested in selling your doll, I would suggest you list her on your local Craigslist.

  • Start your price as high as you like and reduce it if no one shows an interest.
