Value of a Porcelain Doll?

Value of a Porcelain DollI found this doll at a yard sale and I am wondering if it is worth anything? It has NI marking on its neck, but nothing more. I didn't find any thing on the internet either. The doll doesn't have eyelashes on one eye.

I personally dont think the doll is worth much to begin with. The missing eyelashes are a type of damage which lessens the value further

That marking isn't one I have heard of, but I am still new to the doll world. I had hoped it was Ni Komang Kailani, but her dolls mostly have human hair and the face on yours isn't quite right.

That said, sometimes...in the Flea/Tag Sale/Online sales brown eyed, blonde dolls fetch slightly higher than the blonde hair blue eye dolls, because people like to get them for their blonde haired, brown eyed girls. Which is non common combo. When I say more, I mean if the doll would post market "retail" for $10, it may fetch $15.

Without finding an apples to apples match for your sweet dolly, it would be hard to put a market value on her.

You may try Google Images and sort through what's out there to hunt for a match or type her description in to the Etsy or Ebay searches every now and then. Today there were no exact matches.

What I have learned with dolls is they seem to be the car of the toy world...meaning the lose an HUGE value the second they come off the shelf. I encourage people to buy and collect for love and not value. That way, if there is a value in the future, it becomes a happy bonus!

The value of a doll like this is very low due to the availability of thousands of similar (but maybe "perfect" ones) dolls for only a few dollars each. At any given time there are over a million "dolls" listed on eBay and several thousand listed on Etsy. Dolls are so plentiful that it makes them very slow sellers and it is estimated that only about 20% (or less) of dolls that are listed will ever sell.

  • Many people say "just donate them to a thrift store" but, sadly, many dolls like this finally end up in a trash bin when donated to thrift stores as they sometimes sit on shelves for many months - just taking up space. Most will be marked $10 to begin and maybe reduced to $5 and then may be placed in a "free" box or thrown away.

I volunteer at a local Hospice thrift store and it always makes me feel sad to see lovely dolls donated.
  • One of the reasons doll values have decreased is due to the fact that small sellers get free listings on eBay so they only have to pay fees if something sells. This just means that listings for items like dolls "exploded" when eBay made free listings available.
  • I hope you like your doll and will enjoy displaying her, but, if that is not the case, then I hope you can find some lucky little girl that would love to have her.
  • If you still want more information about this doll you can present photos and questions to this site and doll lovers/collectors may have some ideas about the maker and value of your doll.

Thanks! I really like the doll tho. She is standing on my worktable and she is really beautiful and gives vintage vibe to my room.

Good! I still have some dolls in my house that may not be worth very much but I like having them around and after I am gone - someone else can give them away.
