This is a mass-produced doll. It is number 124 in a lot of many more. It is worth $25 at best.

This marking looks, to me, different than any I remember from when I used to sell dolls in retail stores.

Can you tell if the word Linda is engraved into the doll (like pressed in) meaning it was manufactured with it, or is it look like it could have been handwritten? I know doll makers who make their own often hand sign (and sell at craft shows and such, vs. the mass market sales). I am wondering if she was from such a venue?

Do you know any history at all...year, etc.?

There were lots of doll makers named Linda, but none (that I can remember) had a signature like this one,, which is what gets me so curious!

There is a doll site that cybergrannie has where people can send info with questions...hopefully she will post that site and you can send the pix there and ask to learn more about this doll. Those folks on the site she knows seem to be the TRUE experts...I just love dolls and sold them for years....that does not make me an expert (maybe some day)!

I am not 100% positive she was of the massed produced variety...she could be...but I can't say for sure...I will keep digging and see if I can learn anything else!

All of that said, if you are asking for value, it is critical to know exactly who she is to set a value on her.

Thanks for sharing! Will check back in if I learn anything more and will look for other posts!

Truthfully - nothing about this doll looks familiar to me. Her hair is lovely but we cannot see the type of shoes she is wearing and although she looks like porcelain, it is possible that she has a cloth body?

  • Did you open the back of her dress to see if there might be other markings on her back? Be sure to check that area also.
  • You can post your question to a doll forum but you must give as much information as possible for even doll "experts" to be able to help you.
  • You will need several pictures - one of her face (do her eyes open and close?) as well as her full body with shoes showing.
  • State her measurements (how tall is she?) as well as her composition (all porcelain?) and provide any information you may have about her age or where she came from (provenance).
  • This may be more trouble than you wish to go to but this may be the only way to determine who made her, when she was made and if she has any value.
  • Here is a link to the site and it is very easy to use.
