I have a set of the Encyclopaedia Britannica 1768. It is a collection of 24 volumes, 2 dictionaries and a book of the year 1960. They all say copyright 1959. How much are they worth?
Thanks.

They were printed in Great Britain and I believe the information in the book might be from 1768 but the books are not that old at all. If they were copyrighted in 1959 that means the books are not as old as you think they are. Normally books that are actually not 100+ years old are not worth a lot of money at all. Collectors are not actually interested in these types of books. Even the pages of the book don't look that old. The information inside the books is outdated and normally people won't buy books like these nowadays because all the information is online. You may be able to get around 25 to 50 dollars for the set if you try and sell them in your area. You can try to talk with a local book seller and see what they suggest.
A set of Encyclopaedia Britannica can be worth money but the current value really depends on several things:
Edition/year
Cover type/style (there are usually several different types made with each new edition).
Some later years are still selling for over $1,000 dollars (some for several thousand) but the 1959 edition has nothing really outstanding that would make it worth more than $50 - $300. All of this would depend on the things mentioned above.
It is best to do research on this set to see what other sellers are asking for their sets. This will give you an idea of how the price fluctuates but be sure to check everything about the set to be sure you are looking at an identical set.
Of course, asking prices are just a price the seller has set that they would really like to receive for their item but only a sold set will tell you what someone was willing to pay.
It is very difficult to find sold items as eBay is the only site that actually has a link to items that have sold over the past several months.
eBay is good starting point for your research. You can find a set that is listed for sale and place a watch on that listing to see if it sells. But it is also a good idea to use Google and check out the other sites that have this edition listed.

You can check the listings on Google but it's difficult to keep track to see if they sell.

Here is the link to eBay's sold listings so check this often to see if a set like yours has sold.

If you wish to sell now you can list your set on some of your local venues and maybe list it as pick up only so they will not have to be shipped.
You can always start at a higher price and lower it if no one shows an interest.
These books were mass produce, not worth more than $50. You could do a auction/bid to see if you could get more through a collector!
