Can anyone give me an idea of the value of an entire set of these Noritake dishes? I am considering selling them.

The best way to determine the complete value of your dishes is to search online at a site called Replacement.com. They sell off the dishes by pieces or break down the set. There are a lot of people who are now breaking down their set of dishes to sell them online because they seem to earn more than selling them off as a complete set. I am not even sure how many pieces you actually have for the set and if you have extra pieces or not. That makes it even harder to tell you how much this would be worth. If I know how large the set actually was it would be a bit easier to give you an estimate of how much this is worth. Please give more of an idea of what the complete set has and how many services are in the set of dishes that you want to sell off.
I have a 12 pc setting:
12 Dinner plates
12 coffee cups/ 12 saucers
12 soup cups- ( have 2 handles)
12 salad plates
Gravy boat
Creamer and sugar bowl
The pattern name is N956 Noritake.
Replacements.com says it is out of stock, so they don't give the retail for it, and I cannot find any that have sold recently under the pattern name on eBay. I did not look through every Noritake pattern--so there may be one sold--most sellers have no clue the pattern name and just describe it--there are bunches of Noritake patterns with flowers and swags...so you could look through them all and you might find a sold example that way.
You could always contact Replacements and see what they would offer you for it, knowing that is 1/8 to 1/4 of "retail" value. Resesllers rarely get "retail" value--because people seem to udnerstand that stores or websites have overhead and can charge higher prices than us lowly resellers.
Selling china is very hard (if you are or not an experienced seller). I am an experienced seller and I no longer sell china because most people don't want sets, they want pieces and I don't have the patience to set up multiple auctions for pieces like I did when I was younger and when there was a higher demand for fine china..
Then the other reason is shipping is a huge nightmare because the pieces are so fragile and the (if you are in the US) postal system is not gentle on items and I had too many issues with damage.
So my best suggestion is to take the set to a consignment store and see if they will sell it for you as pieces or a set. That will be the best return on investment and you will get for the items what your local market will bear.
Post back what you decide!
Thanks for asking!
Tks for all the information! I will let you know..
Any time!! Looking forward to helping more if I can!
This set kind of rare to fine. I found one location on Replacements LTD. this pattern is currently out of stock. They have a section to fill out on information of its return and pricing , they in return can give you the pricing when you contact them.
I have two egg cups in that pattern. They have been in my family for at least 3 generations. Mine only have NippOn on the bottom and Replacements Ltd. said it is Noritake N985 as the pattern.
