I was told this doll was worth $300. My daughter got it as a gift from a distant relative. My daughter is 10 and swears it is haunted. Lol. She said that she heard it say, "wrong box" several times. I told her it's the TV or something cause she sleeps with it on. I'm a 38 yr old man and I tried looking this up and I cannot find it. I put in the numbers it shows a different doll. There are only 7 thousand and fifty it says on the card so why can't I find it?

The person who gave you the doll is wrong. Today these dolls are selling for $5 to $15 because they are mass-produced. The doll market has gone way down in value. You can put the doll away and hope that one day the price of these dolls will pick up. But for now nobody is collecting dolls or even cares to buy them for their children. Most kids are into electronics and not dolls these days.
I get what you are trying to say and thank you, but the value of something doesn't go down because people don't buy it for their kids. Anyway I sold it last night for $225.
You are very fortunate to have fetched such a nice amount for your doll! I am assuming she is one of the 22 inch dolls? Your post does not say, and I can't tell by the photo. To research dolls there is so much that goes into it and without all the facts, you can get misinformation.
Some of those are still quite valuable as your friend said. I personally have never seen one sell for more than $100...so I am excited to add a new benchmark to my research that this one has sold for more.
For my records (I like to trend doll sales), can you please tell me city and state or if not in the US where you are located? Did you sell her in an in person sale or in a store?
To comment on why you could not find the doll when you were researching , that is not surprising. Most of the people who sell dolls--especially on eBay--are flippers and do not know enough to list the dolls with all of the important information--which is the maker, the number on the box, the year, the height, the hair color, and if room in the post, the dress color. Other factors that play in when researching and valuing dolls are if it is in the original box, has the COA, and ideally if it is still in the original cello or plastic.
I have seen dolls like this listed simply as porcelain blonde doll...which is great for buyers who want to search dolls to find a bargain on a highly collectible doll that a seller just wants to flip. I find most flippers have no clue what they have, they are happy to turn a $2 doll into $25 and move on. That is awesome for collectors who have the patience to search through all the poorly written listings to find the gems.
Back to your point, this flipping model does nothing to help when you are trying to do your own research.
So one last thing....If your doll was truly haunted, around Halloween you could have fetched at least what you got, maybe even more. Right now "haunted" dolls are selling for around $50 on eBay, but around Halloween, they can fetch upwards of $300-$400. I am not joking. Put the phrase "haunted porcelain doll" or "possessed porcelain doll" in eBay's sold search and you will see this is a huge selling point.
It is a wild world out there!
Thanks for sharing your gal.
I really needed to hear more about this haunted business... maybe by listing it as 'haunted doll' he got more money, LOL
There is a whole subculture of haunted, possessed dolls on eBay. Seriously! Read a few and see. I do believe in these things, although my opinion is most of the ones for sale are preying on people.
