Are there any identifying markings on the bottom?

In order to help out and find out more about your vintage toothpick holer, you will need to look on the bottom of the item and check for marks that can give us a clue. Without the marks, it makes it very hard to help out and tell you more about this item.

Thank you for commenting. There are no marks on the bottom of this item. I was thinking this may be of Polish or Czech origin.

These are readily available in all shapes and sizes.
Prices range from $3 to $15 but usually in the lower amounts.

You can see similar ones on Etsy and eBay.

The following link shows sold items on eBay over the past several month. Only sold lists show current value as asking prices are just a price the seller would like to receive for their itmes.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your lovely.

I am curious why you think she is a Polish or Czech piece. She looks quite primitive and most of the ceramics I know from these countries are more highly stylized and colorful--even if the colors are muted/pastels.

Also, I am thinking she is not a toothpick holder because it appears to have a hole in the basket and the angle would not be conducive to removing toothpicks or matches without them shifting and potentially falling out. That said, I am not sure what she was originally indended for? Maybe she had a bouquet of flowers tucked into the basket.

How tall is she?

She has a lot of crazing, but it all over crazing, which makes me think someone crazed her to make her look old. Also that pattern of her flowers is one that was very popular in the 1980s. I learned the technique using the back end of a paint brush, a toothpick, and Qtip end. That also lends me to believe she is not old.

Is it possible she was a ceramic project? What does the bottom look like?

I am curious about her as she is sweet. Once I know a little more and think a bit, I may be able to help you put a value on her.

Thanks for the additional info!
