This was my grandmother's who was born in the late 1800s. I believe she got this dresser in the early 1900s. It has only been in my family, and I have had it for well over 30 years.

It is a beautiful piece. You will get a better idea of value if you know who made it. Look under the piece, on the back, and in the drawers.
That is a stunning piece. It looks like it is a man's valet dresser/lowboy.
With pieces like this that you have history on and are old and very ornate and looks to be in very nice shape, you will be best served finding a good furniture/antique dealer to have it looked at and valued for where you are located.
Where I am ornate brown pieces--even as lovely as this--are hard to sell and fetch much less than other cities.
The market for furniture is one of the most regional ones there is because it depends on supply and demand and the age of your town.
Where I am it is an older population and everyone is trying to downsize their beautiful old pieces like this so there is a glut which drives the market way down. Add to that, the younger folks don't want them so it is a hard sell.
Other places, in the right setting, this could fetch big bucks!! If you are in Europe, there is still a market for pieces like this. I sold a very ornate bedroom set (3 piece) on the lines of this where I am 2 years ago and fetched $150. SO SAD. I was told by the person who bought it, if we were in Europe, he would have had to pay well over $2000 for it.
Post back what you learn!! I hope you are in a high demand, low supply place and can fetch a nice amount for it!
Thank you for your comment. My brother and sister-in-law decided to take it. Now it will stay in the family; however, I would still love to know it's worth. I checked the drawers and everywhere else, and I cannot find a manufacture.
Thanks so much for posting back. That is wonderful that it is staying in the family and that it will be loved! Blessings to all!
This is beautiful! Try to find any markings on the inside, back, very bottom, sometimes on the inside bottom as well. This will help you identify the piece and be able to better search for the piece. This would be so beautiful refinished. Even whitewashing it would be gorgeousand as whitewashing is in these daysyou may be able to sell it easier.
Its a stunning piece and one would be lucky to have it!
Good luck with your search!
