Value of an Ashton Drake Leila's Loving Touch Doll?

The asking price and the price the item actually sold for varies so much on eBay. You can find people asking $130 for this doll and then you keep looking and you see a person has sold one for very little and this included the shipping to the customer.

The doll sold for only $40 and it more than likely took around $5 to $10 to pay the shipping of the item to the client.

There is a big problem with trying to research the Ashton Drake monkey dolls as it appears that at least 12 different - but similar - monkey dolls have been made over the years.

It seems the Leila's Loving Touch Doll is one of the first and seems to be pretty rare. There are quite a few of the other style monkey dolls listed for sale on several sites. The asking prices are mostly over $100 and some are selling.
Ashton Drake has 2 fairly new dolls listed on their web site (actually more shown but these 2 are the only ones in this series). One is called Hugs and the other is 'Breathable' and their price is is listed at: $149.95 & $139.95. They also still have the Coco doll listed for sale - less money.
All of these dolls are now listed on eBay for varying amounts above and below Ashton Drake prices.
I'm only showing this because there seems to be a lot of confusion about the value of this particular doll.
You do not state the condition of your doll and also do not state if the mechanism still works that makes the baby grab your finger. Current value will depend a lot on the condition and also if you still have the original clothes and pacifier.
The doll that sold in September on eBay for $49.95 plus $18 shipping was most likely under-priced. Although the seller made a fair profit (shipping was approximately $10.00) they could have made more. it seems the seller does not do dolls very often - or ever. It seems they sell mostly household items. She sold quickly but she was in very good condition and her fingers did grab like when new. This doll is the only true Leila's Loving Touch doll (other than one that was sold on Worthpoint but no date or price available) that I can find that has sold anywhere/anytime. If someone else has seen this same doll listed for sale or sold I wish they would post a link as I would love to see it.

I believe this shows this doll is more rare than all of the other monkey dolls and since these dolls are popular I believe this means it could be valued at over $150 - $200. It may not sell over night but with good pictures and a good description posted now it is possible it could bring this much. Of course, this is assuming this doll is in very good condition and working.

The doll that claimed to be this doll and listed at $130 is not this doll and the seller has corrected their listing showing that doll to be Coco. Coco is listed on Ashton Drake for $119 - new.

You will have to decide how to list your doll for sale according to the present condition but I would advise you to list it as soon as possible but be sure you check the true cost of shipping before posting ad.
