I am planning a vegetarian thanksgiving and I am looking for some good recipes that will not have meat but still capture some of the flavor of a good Thanksgiving meal. Any advice, recipes or tips would be great.
Nicky, I think it's great that you are wanting to do a vegetarian Thanksgiving. We are a semi-vegetarian (lacto-ovo) family with eating fish and turkey very occasionally. I have found the cookbook "Passionate Vegetarian" extremely helpful.
There are lots of sites on line for veggie holiday recipes. 2 that I use are
www.vegparadise.com/
vegweb.com/
Hope that helps.
LOL! If you eat fish or turkey, you are not a vegetarian : )
I know this post is late but maybe for next time?
I made a stuffing with vegetarian sausage this past Thanksgiving and mashed potatoes with vegetarian gravy. I also made various veggies. It was all really quite enough : )
Butternut squash stuffed shells are good fancy vegetarian main dish if you can use eggs, milk and cheese. There are several recipes online with slight variations.
Simply vegetarian lasagna with seasonal veg and spices would be good
Stuffed mushrooms are good too.
Any kind of pie or quiche with just vegetables would be great too.
Nice thing is nearly all can be made in advance.
Some thoughts to Google recipes for:
Butternut stuffed pasta shells, but does use milk, cheeses
Stuffed mushrooms or potatoes
Vegetable lasagna
