Silver Post Medal for All Time! 293 Posts A friend once asked me years ago how I get my kids' hair to look so neat and stay in place. I said detangler, bobby pins, and hairspray. Lot's of hairspray! :)
This hair-style is not just for kids. This is an elegant up-do that would be just the thing if you were going to a wedding or fancy party. It is easy to do and gives dramatic results reminiscent of years gone by. Have fun!
Total Time: 20-25 minutes
Source: Based on a book I found at a garage sale.
Supplies:
- detangler or water, for wetting the hair
- brush
- rubberbands
- bobby-pins
- hairspray
- decorative hair pin optional
Steps:
- Wet and brush hair. Wetting it will make your hair-do easier and lay better.
- Make a simple pony tail.
- Split the hair behind the rubberband with your fingers.
- Push your thumb and pointer finger up from the bottom through the space you have made.
- Push the ponytail upwards and grab with your fingers. Pull the ponytail down through the hole.
- Now separate the ponytail into 3 equal sections.
- Braid and put a rubberband around each section.
- See the long end?
- Twist it around the band at the end to tame it.
- Keeping the twisted end pinched tightly between your fingers, insert it here.
- Secure with a bobbypin and this is how it looks.
- Repeat with the other 2 braids.
- Add a decorative barrette or hairpin if desired. I ordered this one for only a few dollars off Amazon awhile back.
- See?
- You're ready to go!
- Have fun!

Beautiful. A lady or young lady coiffed with an elegant style such as this, can wear jeans and still be seated in some of the most posh restaurants.
