These rice crackers are a delicious crunchy snack that are great on their own, or in combination with dips or rice noodle dishes.
Many people who have traveled in Vietnam love these crackers. They are available at almost any restaurant as well as sold by walking street venders, who will try and sell them to you while visiting the beach or sitting at a street side restaurant. In the United State you can find the uncooked cracker at most Asian markets, but, many don't print the cooking method on the package. You will find these labeled: Banh Trang Me, Banh Da, Spring Rolls Skin, Black Sesame Cracker.
Making these crackers is super easy. All you need to do is turn on the broiler and let the oven warm up a bit.
Place 2 sheets of the rice cracker on the top rack and keep an eye on it. Turning every so often until golden brown on each side.

They must last indefinitely. We had a package we got years ago, decided not to throw it away, cooked the "crackers" (microwave works, but watch out for unzapped edges!) and loved them. Then, of course, we wanted more, but we live far from all south asian grocers, and the only websites that we could find that offer them for sale either are written in vietnamese (and probably located in vietnam) of (definitely) located in the UK.
Do you have Vietnamese restaurants close by? Spring rolls are common on their appetizer menus and they buy the wrappers somewhere. Perhaps they'll tell you their source or sell some to you?
