Is the black paint or metal?
If it is paint, this may be a 1920s-1930s Gunlocke brand chair:
One just sold like this one in the link on eBay at 145.00 best offer.
Values are very regional, so it would depend on where you are, supply and demand. Other styles often fetch into the 300-500 range.
You could contact the company and see if they can confirm it is one of theirs if your piece is all wood.
If the black is metal or something else, I will have to rethink my answer.
Let me know!
Thanks!
This chair appears to have been painted black at one time and someone started removing black paint thinking to refurbish and probably stopped 1/10 of the way through.
It looks to be mostly wood but may have a round metal frame holding the seat.
Not sure of age but this is the old style seat adjustment.
This type chair is generally plentiful and most are posted for sale with no brand name. Asking prices are all over the place and it seems one only sells (on eBay) about every 3 -5 months which generally shows they are very slow sellers and are not selling for any of the high prices listed.
You may be able to post pictures on some of the forums to see if anyone can help you identify the brand.
I looked at a lot of Gunlocke chairs but did not see anything made in this style. Here is a link if you would like to ask them for yourself:
