Llanddwyn Island in Wales
Wales is a located on the west coast of the Isle of Britain. Travelers can enjoy the long stretch of wind swept coastline, rolling green hills dotted with sheep and in the more rugged northern part of the county you can visit castles and enjoy the natural beauty of this small country.

Trees marking the grave of the dog Gelert in Beddgelert, Wales.

Photo Description
This pretty scene was photographed in the village of Beddgelert in Wales UK in the Spring of 2016. The trees you see in the photo mark the grave of a dog called Gelert. This is where the village gets it's name as Beddgelert means "grave of Gelert"

The legend is that the dog belonged to the medieval Welsh Prince Llewelyn the Great. He came home from hunting to be greeted by Gelert covered in blood and his child's bed upturned and empty so he killed the dog thinking he had killed his child, but then found the child safe and a wolf dead nearby. His dog had saved the child from the wolf and Llewelyn is said to have never smiled again

The village is in Snowdonia in North Wales and is a beautiful area with magnificent mountain views.
