Volunteer Violas - closeup of yellow, white, and purple viola

Photo Description
I was warned by a fellow member of the consequences of growing viola. She said they would multiply and take over. I haven't found that to be true in my case.

I do plant lots of viola each year. And the following spring, I do find volunteers that have sprung up, here and there. But there's no invasion.

I weed early in the year in case I need to overseed the grass. It is during this weeding I find these new viola. I welcome them. I dig them up and transplant them into pots. I get a couple of nice pots from these freebies.

The viola shown is one of those volunteers. I find it quite charming. I could go for at least a mini invasion by this little fella and its kin!
