Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,246 Posts I made these stone paperweights to hold our napkins down for when we eat outside during our summer barbecues. To make them, you just need stones that are triangular or oval in shape, then paint them as if they are wedges of watermelon, or the whole darn fruit. Don't they look delicious? (Please, don't bite them!)
Total Time: 1 hour
Supplies:
- stones
- acrylic paints (red, greens, black, white)
- paintbrushes
- glitter paint (optional)
Steps:
- To make the cut watermelons, paint half-circle shaped stones red in a wedge form, and tubular stones red in the center. Add some glitter paint if you'd like it to look like they're glistening.
- Paint dark green on the outermost section to mimic the watermelon skin. Add some white paint in between for the rind.
- Dot on little specks of black paint to make the watermelon seeds. Re-emphasize the rind with another coat of white. I added a bit of lime green below it to make a gradient effect.
- To make the whole uncut watermelons, paint oval stones green.
- Mix a tiny bit of black paint into some green paint to create a dark green tone, then dab patchy stripes with it across the lighter green.

Thank you so much! The more I added detail, the happier they made me. Worth the brush strokes ;)
