My son is moving up to grade school. He was very excited and so am I as a parent. Then I thought of making a bag tag, just a simple tag with his name and attached it to his bag so it's easy to recognize. And it's waterproof.
Supplies:
- washi tape (design of your choice)
- 1 small piece of acetate or clear plastic
- crayons or any writing material
- paper
- string
Steps:
- Stick strips of washi tape on a piece of clear plastic. Make at least four strips wide and make sure to stick one edge to another to make it come up in one piece when pulled off.
- Make two of these.
- Remove them from the plastic and stick them together back to back. This will be the base. Trim the edges straight and neat.
- Cut out a piece of clear plastic or acetate based material the size of your washi tape base. Secure the sides with strips of washi tape.
- Get a piece of paper and write your name or anything in it.
- Insert it into the opening.
- Seal the opening with another strip of tape.
- Make a single hole in one side of the tag.
- Insert a piece of string on that hole. Then tie it in your bag.

You should not display your childs name on the outside of their backpack. That makes it easy for anyone to kidnap your child. Do however put it inside a pocket or flap, along with your phone number, in case it is ever lost.
