I have a few afghans that are very plain and they need some fancying up. I have the idea to weave in yarn into the afghan. I have no desire to unravel the yarn and make a new one. Any suggestions on how to do this? Any other ideas?

You will simply need the desired yarn and a plastic needle. I use these and they work great. You can get bigger if you want to use larger or bulkier yarn, but you probably would stretch the stitch out. I hope this helps. When you are done, why not send us a photo? PBP
