This question didn't fit in any category, but here goes: Does anyone here participate in online surveys to earn cash/rewards/gift cards? I'm interested in doing this, but I don't know of many sites that are reliable and safe and I thought some of you here would. Right now I'm on surveymonkey and I like it. Also which survey sites should I avoid? Thanks in advance for the information!

Keep in mind a lot of survey sites will post the same surveys that other survey sites post. I can give you a list of other survey sites that you can go to and work on that are legitimate sites that actually pay you for your time and efforts. I have done a lot of research on these sites and have written up reviews to help others understand the sites so they are not scammed when working on them.

There are so many of them out there and I am not sure where you are living. Keep in mind most of the best survey sites that pay a decent wage for your time are from the US.
The only site that I have found to be legitimate is the SSRS Opinion Panel and the Nielsen TV/Radio rating products.
Both (in my experience) over 20+ years of trying to find legitimate sites.
Both (to my knowledge) are US based only.
You will not get rich off of either of them, by any stretch. To put it into simple terms...
The two I did above surveys took an average 10 minutes and payment was $5/$15 dollars which figured to 5 dollars/10 minutes = .50 cents an hour and 15 dollars/10 minutes = 1.50 per hour.
Pretty bad, but I could do them while listening to TV.
Regardign other options--when I used to fill the car with gas frequently, I would only put the gas on my Discover card (credit card) and then I would apply the cash back to pay the bills when I got to $20. This was safe and painless. We also charge big purchases ONLY If we know we can pay them off right away--like if we need tires for the car or car inspection and then pay off the card so no interest, and then those cash back rewards add up also.
My ways to improve my income were much more effective....like cutting cable, changing my grocery shopping habits from brand name to store brands (I am a huge fan of Aldi), turning off lights when not using them, unplugging things like the TV and computer when I am not using them for more than a few days in a row. I also stopped using a blow dryer (my hair is short) and a clothing dryer. With the latter, I found a really happy bonus that and not only did that save in gas costs (HUGE), but my clothes have lasted literally YEARS longer than they did when I was using a clothes dryer. I also switched most of my clothing washing (except for sheets, towels, underwear and dish rags) to tap water temperature and short washes (these are both settings on my machine--tap water uses tap water--I changed because I learned that if the tap water is extra cold--like in the winter, the "cold" setting adds hot water to get it to be "tap" setting--so illogical, but this came from the washer company.
I also do a lot of freelance writing at legitimate sites (like Thrifty Fun) and local magazines to supplement my income. These are better for my situation and the wages are higher than surveys, plus I am building my portfolio which helps me get new clients in my business and keeps my resume fresh.
I also have been a reseller on eBay and (pre-COVID) for 50 some years. I will never ever get rich from it, but it also offers a way to get income if I need it. You would be shocked the things you have of value around your house. I found a Pittsburgh Steeler terrible towel (a very special and rare one) that I had tucked away in my memorabilia box. I got $85 for it. To others it looked like a rag, to the buyer, it was gold!!
If you don't have a lot of stuff laying around or you are not a writer, perhaps you are good with dogs or cats and can dog and cat sit, or maybe you garden and can help people plan a garden. There are lots of hobbies that can be turned into cash. Just be sure to 1. talk to a tax guy before starting and 2. make sure it it is legal to do it where you live!
Best wishes in your quest!!!
My oldest daughter used to do some of this and did use some of the sites mentioned but she made very little actual cash money. She did this because she had young children and worked on these when she had a spare minute. She made more money than many people because she was in the right age group, college degree, had children and was considered to be in the 'better' financial group.
Pghgirl has excellent suggestions and most can be done from home - if that is one of your requirements.
