The lawn has been torn up over the Canadian winter in places. I found these when I looked at a piece of turf that had been turned up. What are they? They look like eggs of some sort.

They could be grubs. You can send the picture to your local cooperative extension or go to a local garden center. They are familiar with your area.
I am not sure what you are referring to as the picture has a lot going on. I see what looks like some kind of animal scat/poop and a lot of yard debris (decaying stems and such).
Can you circle or point out what exactly you are seeing? Thanks!
Difficult to tell from your picture.
You may have to pick several up and place on something so you can take a picture of just the insects (use tweezers if necessary).
