Ants love potted plants and will infest the plants around the roots of the plants. They will lay their eggs in the plants and they turn to larva. This is ant larva in your plants and need to be cleaned out. You will need to remove the plants from the pot, take all the soil off the roots of the plants and get rid of this soil. Now put the plants again with new soil. If you have an issue with ants in your area you should get rid of them because they will continue to come back and get in your plants. I have had very good luck using Windex in the area where ants seems to want to attack my plants.
This is Ant Larvae. Here is more info on them - antark.net/
This looks like ants mainly because most other insects attack/lay eggs on the plant itself - stems, leaves, flowers.
Ants destroy plants but lay their eggs on the soil.

There are numerous ways to get rid of the pests so just read some of the posts and decide which one is best for you but be sure to use ingredients exactly as stated so as not to damage plants.
I like to use hydrogen peroxide as this can be used full strength or mixed with water. I also use a lot of food grade Diatomaceous Earth (DE) and blue Dawn mixed with water. Check out these links:
