I brought home this cute little guy from the humane society. I was told he is 12 weeks old, 5 lbs., and a terrier mix. He has an incredibly soft coat and an interesting looking tail. In our backyard, he likes to put his nose to the ground and pull up chunks of grass. Not sure what he is?

Looks like a Terrier mix to me. Maybe a Rough Coat or Wire Jack Russell Terrier mix, Cairn Terrier Mix or something like that. Terriers have long tails and floppy ears at birth, but the pure breed dogs you see in the breed information pictures have had the tails and ears cropped short to meet breed standard (thankfully this is becoming less common).
