tan and white puppyThe people I got him from said he was a Shepherd/Husky mix. He is right at 8 weeks old, but he's still small. Is he mixed with something else?

When puppies are small it is difficult to tell you their exact breed. However, you'll need to go to the vet.

Step 1
Make an appointment with the vet for the dog's first shots. As a puppy your dog will need a series of shots to protect him. One of the shots is for the Parvovirus. This is very dangerous and you need to do this right away.

Step 2
While at the vet's ask them if they can help you identify the breed of your dog.

Step 3
If the vet can't determine your dog's breed find out if they do a DNA test.

Step 4
Ask the vet to do a DNA test on your dog. This will tell you the breed or mixed breed of your dog.

Step 5
If the test is too expensive at the vet's order one online and do the test at home.
