What Breed Is My Dog?

A small black dog sitting on the floor.Enzo is 2 months old now. When we got him, he was a month old and we were told it's a black shepherd, but we are still confused about the breed. Can anyone guide me? Thanks.

He does have the features of Shepard dog. You did not say where you got him from , if it was a breeder then check back with them for some proof of his back-ground. If it was in a pet store , then ask to see the proof on paper. If it was in a shelter, then it was probably a guess. Either way, enjoy your beautiful puppy !!

There may be some shepherd in him, but I think there are other breeds as well. If I were you I would have a DNA test done.

Why do you look for its breed ? He is at the top. At the top there is no breed, there are only faithful, intelligent dogs.
About herd dogs, shepherd dogs, one say : teaching, training, understanding, psychology, working mind. It's the kind of dog that does not understand "obeying" but "working with someone" "being a team" "making the herd do what the shepherd want it to do" without biting, without hurting the sheep, always keeping its own agressivity under control. Can you ? Do we ? All the time ?

There are no shepherd dog typical features or characteristics. Shepherd dog are adapted to the place they live, in the cold of the mountain, or the country side, adapted to the speed they will need and adapted to the danger they will have to protect the sheep and the shepherd from.
You can't compare a Border Collie to a Bouvier des Flandres to a Pyrenean mountain dog or a Kangal to a Beauceron or to the Welsh Corgis of Queen Elizabeth, (yes ! they are shepherd dogs too). They don't look alike. Some deal with sheep others with cows others sometimes have to face wolves or bears.
But if you are looking for intelligent faithful dogs there they are. They don't have to be pure blood, they are pure intelligence, among them there is the one dog supposed to be the most intelligent of all dogs, the Border Collie with its white mask like your Enzo. You should look at herd dogs championship to see what they can do that doesn't come from what they are, or what they inherited, but from what they learn to do.

What a cutie! The only way to find out 100% , is to have a DNA done. He does have the features of a Shepherd( Black). There are different color variations and size in the Shepherd breed.

He doesn't quite look like a black shepherd puppy. Most likely he is a mix, maybe German Shepherd Husky Mix www.perfectdogbreeds.com/.../

But it's really hard to guess. Better do a DNA test. This will help you understand how to properly care and feed your dog. For example, German Shepherds and Huskies are both friendly and loyal - mix is the same, but mix of these breeds needs lots of training and extra attention to grow into a well-behaved adult dog.
By the way, cross breeds are usually healthier than pedigrees because there is less chance of inbreeding and a larger gene variation.

I think this is a Shepherd & Lab Mix petsidi.com/.../
Make a DNA test and you will know exactly the breed (mix) of your dog.

He is 100% Mutt. I see some shepherd but also terrier and lab. But he's also 100% a loving beautiful animal that no matter his breeding is worthy of devoted love, care and affection.

Which I'm sure you'll provide.
