The face does have chihuahua in it.
OMG...I just want to hug that sweet little face!!! God bless you for rescuing him!! Enjoy him!!! The vet may be able to give you a more definitive answer (they look at teeth--which also helps gauge age, jaw, tail, bones etc. to get a feel for lineage) but from loving dogs my whole life I see:
