I just adopted my dog from the local shelter. She is about 2 years old, even though the shelter told me she was one, the rabies vaccination paper says otherwise. I recently took her to the vet and the vet listed her on the paperwork as a Jack Russell Terrier mix.
I definitely believe that most of her traits come from JRTs. She has a lot of energy, but also can sleep for days and she snores! She knows all of her commands very well, too. She is protective of me as well as my boyfriend and when we lay down, she decides that she wants to lay right in the middle of us. When we try to move her, she growls and then tries to bite. We immediately stop the behavior from continuing. It has been getting better and happening less often the more she gets used to us, but it still happens.
She also growls at people she doesn't know, even growls just at noises she hears. She hasn't had many interactions with dogs, but she seems to not be bothered. Maybe from past experiences?
She also is afraid of black figures, that being a black object being bigger than her or a black person. I know that sounds bad, but I think being that she was a stray dog found by the shelter, she might have been abused in her past life.
Thanks for any help in figuring out what Roxy is! She really is a great dog, other than her aggression sometimes.

I tend to believe what the vet said about her. She does look like she has a lot of Terrier in her and some Jack Russell. However, if you're worried about his and want to know for sure what she is, you'll need to do a home DNA test.
This dog looks like a mix of several breeds. Do a DNA test to know.
