We took in a "stray" who was pregnant. She was well cared for so I know she was someone's dog by her house training and appearance; we just couldn't find her owners. What breed do you think she is? She has a slight underbite, so the vet said Shih Tzu mix. I have no idea what the puppies could be.

Well to me she kind of looks like either a Maltese or Shih Tzu, My mom has a Maltese and her and all her puppies had bad underbites. Here is a picture of a Maltese below
It could be Maltese. The face looks like a Maltese.
She could also be mixed with a Bichon Frise or even a Havanese. The dog is definitely mixed for sure. The mixture could be of several other breeds of small dogs.
There is actually no way of telling if the puppies will have the same underbite as their mother does. My female had an issue with her teeth when she was around 5 months old. She had 5 teeth that never fell out and the adult teeth pushed up and in their place. I had to have the teeth extracted because there was way too many and it also looked terrible.
When she had her puppies they were all fine and didn't have the same issues as she did. You'll just need to wait until the puppies are 5 to 6 weeks old when the teeth start coming in.
As for taking in the dog that is so sweet of you. You're loving for and caring for this dog. I am wondering if you have tried to find out who the owner is of the dog. Did this dog happen to have an electronic tag on her?
I know if I had lost my baby girls I would be running around everywhere looking for her. I hope that you can find the owner of this dog. I am sure they would love to give you one of the puppies if she is returned.
