We were told that they were Rottweiler/Pit mix, but we aren't very sure. Please help. He has a nubby tail that he was born with and is very stout and will be very huge considering how big his paws are.

I don't believe there is any Pit (proper name is American Staffordshire Terrier, btw:) in your dog and I'm not so sure about the Rottie part, either!
I raised AKC Boxers in the US 40+years and did breed rescue; my cousin raised Staffies - I see Boxer in your beautiful puppy, but no Staffie or Rottie (Staffie/Boxer-Rottie crosses were frequent rescues, unfortunately).
Check with a good canine vet (yes, they do specialise) and I think he/she will agree there is Boxer in that gene pool. As for the rest, the snaps and info you've posted aren't sufficient to make a guess - from the colouring your pup could be part Corgie or Collie but without a profile shot of the dog standing it's very hard to say. The vet will be able to give you a better idea as he/she will see the dog in person and so will know height-weight-conformation=breed(s).
Cute as a button puppy, and such an intelligent expression:)
