By this time you should have had the dog to the vet several times to get their shots. What has your vet told you about the dog? They are normally really good at identifying dogs and their mix. I would also speak with them to see what they have to say.
My friend had a chihuahua dachshund years ago and this looks almost exactly like him!!
If I could see the haunches, I could know more because doxies have very distinct haunches!! I know he is 100% adorable!! Has coloring of both breeds! Has the vet weighed in? Our vet is really good at breed determinations! She looks at hips, bones, teeth and other things that we can't see from a picture.

Hmmmm, looks possible to be a Chiweenie(Dachshund). Maybe 20% of Dachshund. The Chihuahua DNA is very strong in this dog. So strong I have pulled up a link of pictures of Chihuahua's , I think yours may be there. www.bing.com/
