I adopted a dog from our local animal shelter and was told he was Border Collie mix, but he is now only 6 months old and is extremely tall and has very long legs. Is there a possibility that he is mixed with Great Dane?

How tall is 'extremely tall'? Tall for a Border Colllie?
To be honest your dog looks like a Beagle-Boxer-Lab mix to me. I was an AKC Boxer breeder in the US for over 40 years and also worked with the local breed rescue. I've seen several of the mix I mention and that's what yours looks like to me. That gene pool would account for the ears and eyes (Beagle), the head and muzzle shape+the chest and formation of the paws (Boxer, that topknot head and broad chest are sure signs:), and the height (Lab, all Lab!).
I did a Google Images search - have a look at these pics of that mix and you'll see what I mean.

A vet would be better able to give you a good guess as to what breeds went into your dog, look for one who specialises in dogs.
Whatever breeds end up being what is in your dog, read up on all the breeds in yours to learn how to raise a happy, healthy, and well adjusted puppy into a wonderful adult canine companion.
Wow! Those legs are amazing. I cant think of anything that could account for that other than great dane. The face markings look like a spaniel to me. But I would say at least 1/2 great dane.
I'm no expert by any means; however, the first thing that I thought of when I saw that face was St. Bernard. As a Great Dane mom, those legs do resemble a Danes'.
