What Breed is My Dog Mixed With?

A female puppy wandered up into our yard yesterday. She has decided to stay, which is fine by me, but I would like to know what mix she is. We have an idea on the breed, but we would like to know if she is a pure Pitbull or what type of mix.

I would like some other opinions to feel sure. Thanks for your help. :)Pit lying on fleece blanket.

She looks as though she may have some Boxer in her (flatter, shorter, wider snout than a full Staffie (American Staffordshire Terrier-aka pitt bull), as well as the narrower chest of a Boxer as opposed to the broader Staffie chest).

Have a look through this Google Image search for Boxer-Staffie pups; as you can see from these adorable snaps, she looks very like a Boxer-Staffie mix.:

She looks to be very young, less than three months old. She may have wandered off from a home that is grieving her loss, so it would be a good idea to see if someone is looking for her.

If you can't find her home and decide to keep her, you won't be disappointed with her as an addition to your home. These are wonderful dogs but they do require some extra human attention to breed specific issues (local ordinance against 'dangerous dogs', insurance against liability, proper training, muzzles and leashes in public, and very stout fencing!)

Two things-one, your canine vet is the best expert to determine what she has in her breeding; two-both Boxer and Staffies require early socialisation, obedience and companion training, and a regular exercise programme.

I raised AKC Boxers for years in the US, my cousin raised Staffies. These wonderful (and woefully badly bred over the past ten years) dogs take up to three years to reach full maturity but beginning training early ensures a well-adjusted, happy dog.

I hope you'll keep the Thrifty Fun community updated, what a darling looking little lady she is!

What a sweet looking dog. I dont see much pit bull. She looks to me like a real mix, not just a couple breeds. She looks to me to be part herding breed, which is nice because of their intelligence.

She should be a great dog. Good for you for taking her in. I dont think you will regret it.
