I adopted this puppy from the pound a week ago and was told he was Collie x Huntaway (NZ farm dog). However someone has said they see more Staffy in him. Any ideas? Thanks!

He looks like he has labrador retriever in him. He also looks exactly like my dad's German Shorthair Retriever when she was a puppy. He's a cutie no matter what he has in him!
I raised AKC Boxers and did breed rescue in the US 40+years, my cousin was raising Staffies at the same time - I'm quite familar with breed characteristics and I really don't see any Staffie in your handsome pup.
I do see Chocolate Lab (colouring, ears, and paws) and am surprised the vets didn't suggest it. I would trust what the vets have to say over anything a friend offers unless that friend is a many years breeder with a quality reputation.
