I am just curious as to what breeds my dog could be. I adopted her from the humane society where she came in as a stray with puppies. They didn't have a clue. It just said "mix" on her papers.
Some people think she's Catahoula; my trainer says that he'd bet she has Mountain Dog in her. She's about 50 lbs. and 21" at the withers. Her tail falls at the hock and it has a white tip. Her paws are webbed and she has a really deep bark for her size, similar to a rottie in tone.
She's very protective of us but is fearful overall at the moment, especially in the house so it's hard to determine her temperament. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

IMHO, your trainer is absolutely correct: A Bermese Mountain Dog, to be exact. There could be something else mixed in, though. I say that because your dog's coat is short.
While his markings are similar,Burmese Mountain Dogs are in the 80-100 lb range and very heavy bodied, heavy coated - kinda like a smaller St. Bernard. I just don't see it. I would say definitely Catahoula Leopard Dog - especially with those piercing blue eyes and that cute hound dog face. Here's a link to a breeder site so you can see a pure-bred Catahoula and compare: www.huckleberrycreekkennels.com/
Just a guess but I would have to say Fox hound and Australian shepherd. Accounts for the size color and eyes.
First things first, it's not Bermese... It's Bernese. A commen mistake. However it is not a Bernese mountain dog mix at all but more likely a Appenzeller Sennenhund or greater Swiss mountain dog There are four breeds that all share the title of Sennenhund, all with the exact same tricolor features. It's simply genetically impossible for her to be a Berner and be short coated. The greater Swiss mountain dog and Appenzeller Sennenhund are much more likely since they are short coated. No amount of mixing would take away a Berbers thick coat.
The Swiss breeds are known for having blue eyes when there stripe doesn't form correctly and masks the face like yours. so I'd venture as far as to say she could be a pure bread. I've attached a photo of my own pure bread Bernese to show different.
