This is taking over a friend's garden here in Sud Finistere in France. Anyone know what it is? The plant grows about 20cm high and has tubular roots, spreads like crazy, and overwhelms other plants.

Hello there, the name of the plant is Geranium Robertiarum. I live in Lyon and over here is quite abundant as a wild plant.I had to kill off some of it on my balcony...and I live on the fifth floor. It makes lots and lots of seeds... I hope this helps. If you have more questions you can write me at centauri2007-star "at" yahoo.com. Cheers!
Thank you Dan, very helpful. Because of your advice we dug it out as previously we thought it might have been a garden plant. I now see it certainly isn't!
A weed is a plant which is either unwelcome or is growing uninvited in the wrong place, so any regular garden plant can become a weed. It depends on how you view this pretty visitor to your garden.
