What is this? I brought this plant/tree home from Mom's condo in Florida when she passed away. They had it outside all the time and it did really well except for the iguanas that would eat the bright pink flowers that would bloom on it. When I brought it back to North Carolina it was fine then all the flowers started falling off and then all the leaves fell off. Of course I kept it in the house I thought maybe it was a jade tree, but the leaves are thin, they're not thick and rubbery like a jade.

It sounds like a Hawaiian tea plant. If so, they are beautiful. They do well in Texas outside during the summer, but must be brought in during the winter.
I believe your plant is a Desert Rose.
I have collected a couple of pictures but these may be in better condition than yours: (wait a couple of seconds for the site to show individual plant photo)
