I have had this medium sized stiff leaf houseplant for several years. Recently, the stems and leaves have begun turning brown from the bottom up and the plant has sagged down. I need to identify the plant and then determine what I have done to it! Any help would be appreciated.

This looks like one of the many varieties of "mother-in-law tongue" plant-sharp and spiky! My late mother-in-law received one from a dear friend when her son and I eloped many years ago. Even tho my ex and I divorced just a few years later, we became very close and I miss her dearly!!!
It looks similar to my Zebra Haworthia succulent.
This is a Haworthia, or Zebra Cactus. They naturally turn brown at the bottom as the older leaves age. Yours is looking very healthy and robust!
