Can anyone identify this plant? I'm scared I've killed several of the stalks as they won't grow leaves anymore. So I'm looking to identify it so I can find out how to bring it back to life.

From the stems, the poor thing looks like a Dieffenbachia (mine has variegated leaves but are the same shape as yours). To propogate, simply lop off a chunk of one of those stems and stick it in a jar of water. Set it in a sunny spot and wait for roots to grow. If my guess is correct, you'll see a lovely and reasonably quick resurgence of growth. Set that in the dirt and think about getting rid of those naked stems? Mark your Outlook calendar to water twice a week (half a cup or so each time).
It is difficult to say but it looks like a sick Dieffenbachia and if it is keep it out of reach of children or pets all parts being poisonous.
