I found these really weird eggs growing on a small splinter of wood on a part of the fascia on my house. The images are hi-res so you can zoom in pretty far. There are two pictures, one for each side of the wood splinter.
No one can tell me what they are. I live in Albuquerque, NM if that helps.
I am assuming they are some kind of insect eggs, but maybe they are spores of some kind? I am clueless. Whatever they are they look like they have hatched already as can be seen by the little open holes on each of the eggs/pods. The little eggs were on both sides of the little wood splinter.
I have checked every square inch of the entire rest of our fascia and soffits and don't see anymore. It seems to be a one-off occurrence. I just want to make sure it's nothing I should be concerned about.
Thank you for any help/info!

If no one here can answer your question, send the pictures to your local cooperative extension.
How weird. They are fascinating, but like you, I would not want them on my house, especially in the wood.
My first thought is a fungus.
Best to take this to your local home extension office (put you zip code into this finder) and ask:

Post back what they tell you!! I am so curious.
