I adopted my dog when he was about 5 months old. Aubie is now approximately 7 months old. The shelter said he is a Border collie mix and when I took him to the vet she also told me he was mixed with something else.

I can see where someone saw great dane in your dog. I see it too, especially the head. I dont see dalmation as much. Dalmations are pretty hyper. Your dog stood nice and still for his picture. Some dalmations I have known cant do that.
I do see Dalmation in the spotty parts.

To me, the ears are more terrier...but there could also be a touch of Greyhound which would account for the medium size and even some of the coloring as there spotted Greyhounds. Even though these are race dogs, I know from my friend's rescue, they can be very chill and love to just stand and watch things!
Does he like to "herd"? My friend has (and has had for years and years) Border Collies and they are HUGE herders!! They will herd you to sit on the couch and then demand petting!!! The coloring is Border Collie ish with the black and white patterns.
