I've been told it's either a corn snake or a black racer. I don't think it's a black racer and it seems very nippy for a corn snake.

I looked at some pictures and it could be a ratsnake.
I agree with Judy as we see these in Florida quite often. I believe around here they are usually called a black rat snake or sometimes an oak snake.

Gardener snake. Gardener snakes are small and not too long. Or it can be a baby king snake
