What Kind of Snake is This?

I was walking up a hill in Chesterfield South Carolina and I saw a snake. It was black and had some yellow rings around it and about a half inch to a inch. Do you know what kind of snake it is?

Eastern King are harmless nonvenomous snakes and grow to approximately five to seven feet long. The skin is shiny black with bright yellow or creamy colored rings. These snakes kill by constricting their small prey such as birds and rodents and also some poisonous snakes. These southern snakes reside in US and Mexico.

It could be a ring-necked snake, which is harmless
