It looks like a rat snake to me.
It might be a Brown Snake...see link at the end of this message.
Does your town have a local agricultural school? You may want to see if someone can come out and verify so you know for sure.
Some people like snakes around because they keep the rodent population down...but if you are like me and don't want them around your pets... (even if they aren't poisonous) you may want to find a safe way to have them move on.
If that is the case, your Ag school may have a safe, NON CHEMICAL way to send them packing to another location!
