I have been wondering about this old piece of farm equipment for years. It is on our place in the foothills of Northern California. Does anyone know what it was called and how it was used? Thank you.

I appreciate that link. Very helpful!
This appears to be some sort of plow but exactly what it was used for is a mystery to me.
The levers and 'gears' must have been used to elevate/adjust the blades for higher/lower plowing and it does not look like it would work for making rows - so, not much help from me.
There are forums that answer questions about vintage farm equipment and most likely someone will recognize the name.
Your pictures are okay but can be confusing. It would be better to have pictures from each side showing full piece and also from top if possible.
Try Reddit first as they are usually very good but if you have problems; do not give up - ask questions and you will get answers.

Thank you! I appreciate all of your thoughts.
It looks like an antique turning plow.
It looks like something to get the ground ready to plant. It digs the rows and then you can plant the seeds.
