I would like to know the name of a plant that no one seems to have seen before. It looks like a hibiscus flower, deep blood red or dark magenta, with leaves that have five lobes. The plant grows very tall and the flowers grow against the stalk where the leaf meets the stalk. The plant is prickly and the flowers only last one day (like the hibiscus). The flowers are 3 to 5 inches across and the leaves are green (not like the night blooming red hibiscus).
Now that the plant has matured somewhat, there are small branches growing where the leaf meets the stalk and these branches also have buds on them. Does this sound familiar to anybody?
